Jada Pinkett Smith Hopes Will Smith, Chris Rock Have “Opportunity to Heal” and “Reconcile” After Oscars

Prior to Wednesday’s Red Table Talk on alopecia, Jada Pinkett Smith briefly addressed the Oscars altercation between husband Will Smith and Chris Rock.

We have a Red Table Talk on alopecia that is quite significant. As a result of my own health issues and the Oscars incident, thousands of people have contacted me to share their tales. To begin the Facebook Watch show, Pinkett Smith said, “I’m utilising this moment to offer our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it’s like to have this condition and to enlighten people about what alopecia actually is.”

As for Oscar night, “My goal is that these two brilliant, talented guys have an opportunity to heal, speak things out, and reconcile,” she said. In light of the current condition of affairs, both are necessary. Furthermore, our dependence on one another is greater than ever. Since we’ve been together for 28 years, Will and I are continuing to figure out this thing called life together. “I appreciate your time and attention.”

At the 2022 Academy Awards, Rock joked about Pinkett Smith’s impending G.I. Jane sequel, which he seemed to be implying was a reference to the actress’s freshly shorn head. Smith stormed the stage after Rock’s remark and slapped him across the face.

Smith, the best actor Oscar winner for his role in King Richard, announced his resignation from the Academy amid an investigation into his conduct at the award ceremony. He has now resigned from the Academy. A decade-long ban on Smith’s participation in Academy activities and the Oscars was issued by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

“Jokes at my expense are a part of the profession, but a joke about Jada’s physical condition was too much for me to handle, and I responded emotionally,” Smith wrote on Instagram, apologising to Rock for his “inappropriate and inexcusable” behaviour at the Academy Awards.

To Chris, I’d like to openly apologise. I had stepped out of bounds and made a blunder. I’m ashamed of myself and my behaviours don’t reflect who I want to be. In a world of love and peace, “violence has no place.”

On Wednesday, Pinkett Smith made her first open statement on the incident. “Considering all that has happened in the last several weeks, the Smith family has been focused on profound healing,” read a statement that aired at the beginning of the Red Table Talk season premiere episode. When the time is right, we’ll share some of the healing discoveries we’ve made.” When Smith and Rock’s physical altercation was addressed, the message didn’t say.

When Willow and Adrienne Banfield Norris appeared on Red Table Talk on Wednesday, Pinkett Smith spoke about how important it is to give people living with alopecia a voice and an opportunity to share their stories with the rest of the world. According to Pinkett Smith, the “most distressing” part of her hair loss is that it “comes and goes.”

A video from Pinkett Smith’s Instagram was also presented to demonstrate what she called “scarring alopecia.” On the other hand, she explained that she worries about how her hair will turn out each day because she’s had patches of hair grow and fall out.

Pinkett Smith stated, “People don’t comprehend what alopecia is, and they don’t understand the effects of it.

The mother of 12-year-old Rio Allred, who had alopecia and committed suicide after being bullied, met with them afterwards. The Oscars event occurred roughly two weeks after Niki Ball’s emotional presentation of her daughter’s story. “What is alopecia?” will be a common search term. Like, “What’s this that we haven’t heard of before?”” This is not a prank, she said.

A former NBA star, Charlie Villanueva, and a woman who has worked in the hair industry for over a decade all shared their alopecia stories, and a leading hair surgeon explained the many types of alopecia.
